Barack Obama Won

without comments

I love using the words "President-Elect" in front of Barack Obama's nameYeah, this post is a little late. I didn’t realize it was NaBloWriMo until yesterday and I was super sick on Tuesday and Wednesday, so I was watching movies and sleeping instead of writing blogs! Give a girl a break!

I think Barack Obama really embodies the hippie value system if the hippies all grew up and got more realistic about stuff, which I guess they have. His values, his message, and his promises all are in line with the “equality, liberty, care for your fellow man” things the hippies preached. I’m glad to finally see this sort of hope and integrity finally step into the White House. And by such a huge margin, too!
Yes we can.

On a related note, my friend has a blog about his name and the other guy’s name: Barak or Barack?

I Have Spokeneth.

I sat down with all my books and websites and decided my choices for the 2008 elections:
My Choices for the 2008 Election
What do you think?

It’s worth noting that Prop 7 and 10 are NOT good for alternative energy or good for the environment. They give favor to huge corporations and totally disqualify smaller energy sources. Voting NO is the environmental way to go.

Prepping for the Presidential Debates

without comments

  1. here’s this:

The Great Schlep from The Great Schlep on Vimeo.

  2. Just like any other liberal Californian with a lick of sense, I’m voting for Obama. The presidential debates are pretty much philosophical for me at this point. In preparation, though, I’m watching The Situation Room, just to find out what all the pundits are yacking about. So far, it’s all, “well, Obama doesn’t have the experience and McCain is too angry.” Now, they’re talking about Joe Biden, who I haven’t really thought about much. How come Biden is in the background and Sarah Palin is all over the place? Buck rightly said that as soon as the teleprompter is off, she sounds like she’s reading off of a MadLib. Just check this out:
  3. OMG, they’re having wireless “mood analyzers” in the audience! The people watching the debate can turn a knob when they agree or disagree with the candidate speaking! How rad. We should do this at random across the US! For everything! It’d be like having Neilsen in your hands!!
  4. I can’t believe the financial crisis these days. I just can’t. How is it possible that George W. Bush has any credibility anymore? Why would anyone pay attention to a single goddamn thing he says? And I’m going to indulge in an “I told you so” moment: Ron Paul totally saw this coming. He was the candidate I supported and voted for before McCain kicked me back out of the Republican side. Yes, Paul is a raving Christian and is socially restrictive, but he’s the closest thing to a Libertarian that’s ever stumbled into the running for Presidency. And now I see that the bailout is not going through tonight. I don’t know if I am glad or not glad. To me, it seems like the economy just has to take this huge dive and we’ll get through it. Increasing the deficit and devaluing the dollar is going to cause long-term financial crisis (like, LONG term), but just letting the banks crash and not bailing anyone out would cause a period of depression, but we’d recover.

Regardless, moving into this like a stampede of cattle, pushing through $700B in bailout and not putting any restrictions on that money is completely insane. Just because everyone is panicking and Wall Street is fluctuating doesn’t mean we should toss around the future of the economy. It just sounds so… well… it sounds like something a teenager would do with unlimited power and money. Just not wise in the bigger scheme of things.

But hey, I’m not an economist. I’m just a girl with no property and very little to lose from complete economic collapse.

  5. And why am I so political all of a sudden? I couldn’t be bothered about it just 6 months ago, but now I’m a total news junkie. It started with the financial crisis, since that was a huge BFD that affected everyone, but it’s kind of bled over into the elections. I think NPR (KPCC, specifically, who I just donated to) has a lot to do with it. They really have excellent programming. And I get to hear Rico every morning, which is kind of funny. (Rico’s a friend of mine who works for Marketplace)
  6. Finally, where is Hunter S. Thompson when we need him? What would he have said about all this?
